Step 1 — We plan
We’ll start with a quick conversation about your family, your style, and what you’re hoping these photographs will feel like.
I’ll help with location ideas, outfit guidance, timing, and all the little details people tend to overthink. The goal is for everything to feel clear before the session even begins.
Step 2 — Session day
This is the easy part. We meet at the beach, outdoors, or in the studio, and I guide the entire experience while keeping things relaxed and natural.
Kids get to move. Teenagers usually stop resisting somewhere around the first ten minutes. And nobody has to wonder what to do with their hands.
Just real connection, beautiful light, and gentle direction throughout.
Step 3 — Your Images
After your session, I’ll help you narrow everything down to your favorite photographs and decide how you actually want to enjoy them in your home.
Albums. Framed artwork. Matted prints. Digital images.
The whole process is guided so the final result feels finished instead of becoming another future project sitting on your to-do list.

I’m a portrait photographer based in Carlsbad, and for over 20 years I’ve photographed everything from editorial fashion and commercial work to luxury weddings and modern family portraits.
What I love most now is creating photographs that feel natural, emotionally honest, and actually reflective of the people in them.
My approach is calm, collaborative, and gently guided. I’m very organized behind the scenes, so the experience never has to feel stressful in front of the camera.

One of the things I love about black-and-white portraits is how little they let you hide behind.
No color. No distractions. No trendy outfits that will look dated in ten years.
Just a family being a family.
These boys spent most of the session climbing on Dad, making each other laugh, and testing the limits of everyone`s patience in the way little boys are uniquely qualified to do.
The result wasn`t perfection.
It was recognition.
When this family looks back at these portraits years from now, I don`t think they`ll be focused on what anyone was wearing. They`ll remember who their boys were at this age.
