Oceanside Pier
The Oceanside Pier is a well-known and historic spot in our area, perfect for family photos. It offers a variety of backgrounds, from the pier itself to the sandy beach and beautiful coastline, all within a small space. This gives you plenty of options for different looks in your photos. The pier is especially gorgeous at sunset when the sky lights up with beautiful colors. It can also make a great morning session location at the right time of year. After your session, you can head to downtown Oceanside for a great meal at one of the many great restaurants in this thriving area.
Oceanside Harbor
The Oceanside Harbor is a fantastic spot for family photos, offering unique and beautiful features. With its large rock jetties, lifeguard towers, and the biggest sandy beaches in the area, it's a great location for a variety of photo backdrops. Parking is easy, making it convenient for everyone. You can also shoot on the other side of the harbor if you prefer the look of docks and boats in the background, especially at sunset. It’s a versatile spot with plenty of options for stunning images. There are a few different Harbor beach areas, and we will select the best for the time of year.
Oceanside Strand
The north end of the Oceanside Strand one of my favorite Oceanside beaches. It is a great spot for family photos, offering a more relaxed vibe while still capturing the iconic Oceanside Pier in the background. The Strand has been at the heart of Oceanside life for over 100 years, making it a meaningful location for locals. This area of the beach tends to have fewer crowds, providing a quieter setting for your session. Plus, you can take advantage of the cool, colorful walls that line the homes along the Strand, adding a unique and vibrant touch to your images.

1. Oceanside Pier
- Benefits: The iconic Oceanside Pier provides a classic beach backdrop with the ocean, sandy shores, and the pier itself as stunning elements in your photos. The pier also offers a variety of perspectives, from the sandy beach below to the pier's elevated walkway.
- Best Times: The golden hour, either just after sunrise or before sunset, is perfect for capturing warm, soft lighting. Early mornings in the fall and winter months are less crowded, offering a more private session.
2. Oceanside Harbor
- Benefits: This location features charming boats, colorful buildings, and scenic waterfront views. It’s a great spot for a nautical-themed shoot with a mix of beach and marina scenery. The vibrant colors of the harbor add a lively touch to family portraits.
- Best Times: Spring and summer evenings are ideal for capturing the vibrant atmosphere. Weekdays tend to be quieter, allowing for more flexibility and fewer distractions.
3. Guajome Regional Park

4. Mission San Luis Rey

- Best Times: Late afternoon to early evening provides warm, soft light that enhances the mission's timeless beauty. Spring and fall are particularly lovely when the gardens are in bloom.
5. South Oceanside Beach
- Benefits: South Oceanside Beach is a bit more secluded compared to the main Oceanside Beach, offering a quieter, more intimate setting. The rugged rocks, tide pools, and wide sandy areas provide a dynamic and natural backdrop for family photos.
- Best Times: Low Tide is essential for South Oceanside beaches. Sunset is ideal for capturing the vibrant colors of the sky and the soft, glowing light on the water. Summer and early fall are perfect for this location, as the weather is warm and the sunsets are often spectacular. Winter will be the least crowded with gorgeous light, but can be chilly and occasionally windy.

This means that after your session, your images will not only be edited, but we also will print & deliver for you. Full retouching is included on everything you order and our lab partners are the highest quality available, so you'll never have to worry about the final product. And not to worry, you will get the digitals too! Everything will be taken care of for you through an easy, guided process.
