When you’re creating your birth plan, the very first thing you need to choose is your birth center. The right place will empower you to see your plan through by prioritizing your voice and giving you access to all the tools you need. I recently chatted with Dara Desota, also known as Dara the Doula. Dara has been there for over 700 births and currently works as a student midwife. She used her expertise to tell me about the best birth centers in the area, and now, I’m here to tell you all about them. Whether you’re searching for a freestanding birth center or prefer to be in a hospital, I would love to pass along some recommendations for San Diego birthing centers.

Choose The San Diego Birthing Center That Best Fit Your Birth Journey
Once you check out these San Diego birthing centers, it’s time to start thinking about the birth team that will help the rest of the pieces come together. With Dara the Doula, you will have the emotional support you need so you can be mentally prepared for your delivery.
If you need someone to help you remember every second, that’s where I come in! I’m a San Diego motherhood photographer and I also offer in-home newborn sessions!
I adore working with parents to give them gorgeous memories of their pregnancy and newborn stages. I would love to have a conversation and tell you all about my process so you can decide if I’m the one for you.

PS. Just a quick heads-up:
- These are my personal views and not medical advice of any kind.
- I personally am not a professional (I am a photographer:) and would only recommend alternative options in cases where it is not a high-risk pregnancy, birth, delivery, etc.
- The health of the mom and baby should always be the number one priority (at the top of any birth plan). It’s super important that every single mom-to-be knows that birth plans are preferences, all things being equal. Expectant parents should understand that plans should be flexible and changeable.
Take care and best birth wishes!
