7 Tips For A Successful Newborn Session

While I love and home sessions, some families find it easier to schedule newborn studio portraits and that is available in my studio in North County San Diego.

Preparing for your newborn session can feel overwhelming, but don’t worry—I’m here to help! Here are seven tips to ensure that your newborn session is a success:

1. Schedule Early

Newborns change so quickly, and those first few weeks are a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to capture your baby while they’re still tiny and new. Be sure to schedule your newborn session as early as possible to ensure that we can capture those precious first moments.

2. Choose the Right Time

Newborns are typically sleepiest and most cooperative during the first two weeks of life. I recommend scheduling your session within the first 10 days after your baby is born to capture those sweet, sleepy newborn photos.

3. Keep Baby Comfortable

During your newborn session, I’ll work with you to create a comfortable and relaxed environment for your baby. Be sure to keep the room warm and cozy, and have plenty of blankets and props on hand to keep your little one comfortable throughout the session.

4. Dress Simply

For newborn sessions, less is more when it comes to clothing. I recommend dressing your baby in simple, neutral-colored outfits that won’t distract from their natural beauty. And don’t worry—I’ll bring plenty of blankets and wraps to keep your baby warm and cozy during the session.

5. Get Involved

Newborn sessions are not just about capturing photos of your baby—they’re also a wonderful opportunity for you to bond with your new addition and create lasting memories as a family. I encourage parents and siblings to get involved in the session and share in the joy of welcoming your newest family member.
