From our first conversation to the moment your finished portraits arrive, I'll guide you through every step. My goal is to make the entire experience easy and enjoyable, so you can focus on what matters most โ the people you love.
Step One
Let's Plan Your Portrait Session
It all starts with a conversation! We'll talk about what you're looking for, answer your questions, and find the perfect session for your family.
Once you're booked, we'll meet over Zoom to plan the details, from choosing a studio or outdoor location to coordinating wardrobe. We'll even talk about the colors and spaces in your home where you might display your portraits, so everything comes together beautifully.

Step Two
Have a Photo Session You'll Love
You don't need to know how to pose, and your children definitely don't need to be on their best behavior!
I'll guide you throughout your session, helping everyone feel comfortable and natural in front of the camera. We'll create a beautiful variety of portraits, from the classic images where everyone is looking at the camera to those sweet, spontaneous moments that show your family's personality.
Whether we're photographing your family on the beach, celebrating a new baby in the studio, or capturing a special milestone, my goal is always the same: beautiful portraits that feel like you.
Most importantly, I want you to enjoy the experience. These are memories you're making together, too!
Step Three
Order Your Art
Forget everything you know about the typical photography experience. We're here to create something more meaningful than another collection of digital images for a Facebook post (although you can use them for that, too!). Beautiful portraits deserve to be seen and enjoyed in your home every day.
After your session, we'll meet over Zoom for your personal viewing and ordering appointment. You'll see your portraits for the first time, and I'll guide you through choosing your favorites and deciding how you'd like to enjoy them โ whether that's framed artwork, a collection of matted portraits, or a beautiful album. No overwhelm or guesswork!
Once you've placed your order, your selected portraits will be professionally retouched, printed, and delivered directly to your home. You'll also receive the matching digital images in your private online gallery.
The Importance of Printed Photographs
We're probably a little different from other photographers you've worked with in the past.
You may be used to having your photos taken, waiting a few weeks, and receiving an online gallery of digital images. But that's often where the experience ends. The photographs haven't been fully retouched, nothing has been printed, and you're left to figure out what to do with them.
We believe a portrait isn't truly finished until it's been beautifully retouched, professionally printed, and ready to enjoy in your home.
There's something special about walking past a portrait of your children when they were little or sitting down with an album and remembering a stage of life that's already passed.
That's why we guide you through selecting your favorites, creating artwork for your home, and taking care of all the finishing details. You'll still receive matching digital images to save and share, but you'll also have beautiful, tangible portraits to enjoy every day.

Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I book my session?
I recommend reaching out as soon as you have a date or timeframe in mind, especially if you're planning around a pregnancy, newborn arrival, graduation, or family vacation. We'll talk through availability and find a date that works for you.
Do you photograph in the studio or outdoors?
Both! I have a portrait studio in Carlsbad Village, and I also photograph families at beautiful outdoor locations throughout North County San Diego. We'll decide together which setting works best for the portraits you're envisioning. Newborn sessions take place in the studio.
What should we wear for our session?
Don't worry, I'll help you with that! During our planning appointment, we'll talk about wardrobe, colors, and how to coordinate everyone's outfits without looking too matched. I'll help you choose clothing that photographs beautifully and feels comfortable and natural.
What if my children don't cooperate?
That's completely normal! I've been photographing families for more than 20 years, and I know that children don't always do exactly what we hope they'll do. We'll keep things relaxed, give them time to warm up, and work with their personalities rather than forcing anything.
How long does a portrait session take?
Most portrait sessions last about an hour, although newborn sessions and larger extended family sessions may take longer. We'll go over the timing during your planning appointment so you know exactly what to expect.
When will we see our photographs?
After your session, we'll schedule a private Zoom viewing and ordering appointment. This is when you'll see your portraits for the first time, select your favorites, and choose your artwork with my guidance.
Do you offer digital images?
Yes! Every portrait purchased as a print or part of a portrait collection includes its matching high-resolution digital image. Digital-only collections are also available by request.
How much does a portrait session cost?
The portrait session fee is $290, which includes your personalized planning and photography session. Prints, artwork, and digital collections are purchased separately. Portrait collections begin at $990, and most clients invest between $1,500 and $5,000 beyond their session fee.
